The Story: Power Outage!
Suddenly the power is out across the entire city. A severe storm has swept across the region and caused a blackout. To restore the power supply, assistance teams are needed.
Teams gradually solve various tasks and thereby restore power, district by district. First, of course, emergency power supply is restored to the hospital.
Your Individual Outdoor Event
You can play »Black Out«, the online outdoor team event, wherever it suits you best. The team event is completely independent of location. The only requirement: To collect clues, participants must go outside and be able to move freely, as the app works via GPS.
You don't want to end a power outage, but would rather rescue cave explorers from a cave or get a company's computer system running again? No problem! We can simply adapt the story for you.
The Process
To collect clues for the outdoor team event »Black Out«, colleagues will download an app to their mobile phones beforehand.
The moderator will give a brief introduction and then colleagues go outside individually and collect clues by moving around: One clue after another is delivered to the app every 200 metres. Each individual can collect a maximum of 18 clues - covering up to four kilometres.
The team comes together online after the clues have been collected and solves the tasks together. Individual teams (4 to 7 participants) compete against each other.
Four clues must be available to solve each individual task of the outdoor team event. There are A, B, C and D clue categories: Each colleague only sees one clue category on their mobile phone. This means: To solve a task, you need at least four attentive colleagues.
Each team decides for itself how to divide the playing time. If one hour is available, the team has several options for their joint strategy:
- for example, 20 minutes running to collect many clues, and 40 minutes puzzling and solving as many tasks as possible
- or 30 minutes running quickly and then 30 minutes puzzling and solving tasks
- or perhaps 30 minutes running comfortably, collecting maybe only 10 clues each and then 30 minutes solving tasks - then only part of the city will be restored to power, but the atmosphere will be much more relaxed!
