The Timber Yard

Bring your conference, wedding, gala dinner, exhibition or live production to The Timber Yard in Port Melbourne. Our former timber storage and distribution site has been transformed into an adaptable event venue, with six named spaces that can support a main event, arrivals, networking and smaller team or backstage needs. Plan the layout around your event rather than adding the individual areas' capacities together: our advertised venue-wide maximum is 1,500 guests.

The Warehouse provides the main indoor setting, with permanent audio, lighting, a large video screen and stage. Heating and cooling, automated blackout draping and movable divisions allow you to adapt the atmosphere and scale of your event. The Yard offers an outdoor arrival and gathering area, while the covered Wood Store provides a sheltered setting for guest flow and activations. The Workshop supports smaller functions, breakouts and backstage use, complemented by Meeting Room 1 and Meeting Room 2.

You can organise catering, bar, furniture and AV packages with us, and external catering and food-truck options are available. For audiovisual production, our in-house company Front of House Productions is the exclusive AV supplier. High-speed wired and wireless internet, three-phase power and vehicle access for loading support events with more involved production requirements. Our team can help with floor plans, event coordination and logistics.

On-site parking in the service driveway is limited to up to 30 spaces for suppliers and clients. Other guests can use nearby street parking on Plummer and Smith Streets. Event finish times depend on your requirements and licence conditions, so discuss the schedule and supplier arrangements with us as part of planning. Venue hire is quoted for your specific event and the areas booked.
