The Purple Emerald Lounge Bar

Plan your birthday, wedding celebration, corporate gathering or celebration of life at Purple Emerald, our cocktail and function bar in Northcote. We combine a relaxed retro atmosphere with flexible spaces for small gatherings, larger celebrations and exclusive venue hire, subject to the arrangements agreed for your event.

Our Main Room brings together comfortable couches, vintage lamps, disco balls and space to gather with your guests. Step outside to the Sundeck for an outdoor atmosphere with fairy lights, flowers, booths and larger tables. A retractable roof and gas heating make the deck a useful option throughout Melbourne's changing weather. Talk to us about the right area, guest count and setup for your occasion; a group reservation is a booking arrangement within our spaces, rather than a separate physical room.

Food and drinks are part of the experience. We serve share plates, casual meals, cocktails, draught beer and a broad drinks selection, including non-alcoholic cocktails. Our functions can include finger food, and we can discuss vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and other dietary requirements in advance. Venue-hire arrangements include use of our multimedia projector, sound system and microphone for speeches. Confirm your preferred entertainment and any additional production needs with us.

We also host Bottomless Sips afternoons and hen's gatherings, with a two-hour session combining a cocktail on arrival, selected drinks and a chef-selected share platter. Package conditions, upgrades and dietary requirements should be agreed when booking. Private functions can be arranged on any day or night of the week; venue hire fees do not normally apply in most cases, but the final terms depend on your booking.

Our venue has no steps or stairs and includes an accessible bathroom. A large car park is located behind us, providing another arrival option for your guests. Bring us your event idea and we will help shape the space, food and drinks around it.
