Located on the west-facing Shelly Beach in Manly, The Boathouse offers an exclusive beachside venue for your special event. The Boathouse Shelly Beach is suitable for canapé + sit-down events on the upper or lower levels. Each unique space includes a covered outdoor area that overlooks Shelly + Manly Beach.
CAPACITY
The upper level of The Boathouse Shelly Beach has capacity for up to 60 guests for a sit down event and 120 for a canapé event. The lower level has capacity for up to 80 guests for a sit down event and 200 for a canapé event.
DURATION
The Boathouse Shelly Beach events package is based on a four hour event and offers you exclusive use of the space. Should your event need to run outside the standard package, please contact our team to arrange alternative timings and applicable pricing.

This café is right on the beach and has a great atmosphere. The staff was friendly. I particularly enjoyed their mango smoothie and coffee; both were delicious and refreshing. The burger and salad were good too, with fresh ingredients and nice flavors. However, I was let down by the fish in the fish and chips, which was too dry and had batter that was too thick for the fish. There’s paid parking close by, but you need to go down some stairs to reach the café. Overall, it’s a good spot, mainly due to its fantastic location.
In my opinion, they serve the best fish and chips in Sydney—the fish is always fresh, perfectly fried, and paired with crispy, golden chips. It’s a dish you can’t miss! Their cocktails are top-notch as well, offering a refreshing complement to the meal, especially when enjoyed with the beautiful views over the beach and ocean. The atmosphere is laid-back yet stylish, and the service is always friendly and attentive, making you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. If you’re looking for great food, drinks, and an amazing ambiance, The Boathouse is definitely worth a visit.
Very disappointing experience at Shelly beach today. Ordered the avocado toast which I have been getting for years. The avocado was brown and old and only a small amount, they’ve also gotten rid of the feta and reduced the toast size. Absolute ripoff for $20. Used to be so good!! Seems like they are trying to cut costs and reducing quality but increasing the price. Will not be ordering food here again. Very poor
Wouldn’t buy takeaway fish and chips from here again. We paid $35 for a small serve of chips and a sliver of deep fried barramundi. The advertised menu said it came with salad but we were informed that that was a mistake so no salad was forthcoming . A small bottle of tasteless soda cost almost $9. Such a great little venue, shame about the terrible value for money 👎
Came here for brunch and it was great. Beautiful greenery along the patio. It was quite busy, but we managed to get a table without waiting. We got mimosas. The poached eggs are topped with caviar, very delicious! Highly recommend. There were bush turkeys wandering around the patio looking for food that has fallen to the ground.
