Mr Tulk Cafe

Bring your next function to Mr Tulk Cafe at State Library Victoria. Our contemporary dining hall sits within one of Melbourne's distinctive historic settings, combining cafe hospitality with the architectural character of a nineteenth-century landmark. We can accommodate smaller function groups of around 40 people and larger parties of up to 180; discuss the arrangement for your group when reserving.

Food and drink are central to the Mr Tulk experience. We serve breakfast and lunch, with an all-day breakfast offering, coffee and fresh seasonal produce. Our cafe selection also includes gourmet flatbreads, toasties, sweets, freshly squeezed juices and smoothies. Tell us about your function so the booking can be considered separately from a regular table reservation.

For ordinary cafe visits, we accept table reservations for groups of different sizes and can split bills. Takeaway options are also available. Our central Melbourne location gives your guests a meeting point at State Library Victoria, whether you are arranging a group meal or discussing a larger cafe function.

Our name pays tribute to Augustus Henry Tulk, the library's first Chief Librarian, linking the cafe to the place in which your guests will gather.
