Ludlow Bar

Bring your wedding reception, birthday, corporate gathering or Christmas celebration to Ludlow Bar on Southbank. Beside the Yarra River, our venue combines private dining, a dining room, lounge, public bar and three terraces, with views across the river and Melbourne. Choose an individual area or discuss a larger combined booking with our functions team.

For a seated occasion, the Private Dining Room accommodates up to 20 guests. The Dining Room seats up to 60 for private use or 36 in a semi-private arrangement, while the Dining Terrace seats up to 100. Exclusive Dining combines dining areas for up to 160 seated or 300 standing guests. For drinks and conversation, the Lounge and Public Bar each accommodate up to 60 standing, the Bar Terrace up to 120 and the Side Terrace up to 50. A Lounge, Terrace & Bar booking accommodates up to 250 standing. Full venue hire accommodates up to 600 standing, subject to availability and minimum spends; the smaller spaces and combined options are not additional capacity on top of this venue-wide limit.

Our functions team can help design menus and arrange entertainment for your occasion. Choose canapé-style service or seated dining, with food and drinks selected for your group. From 26 October to 30 December 2026, our Christmas Function Package is the only function package available. Cocktail packages require at least 25 guests, while dining groups over 50 are served a shared banquet. Menu selections and dietary requirements should be advised at least two weeks before your event.

Simple dining table settings can include black tablecloths, menus, cutlery, napkins, artificial flowers and tea lights. External entertainment is available for terrace bookings and exclusive venue hire; other areas use our background music. Additional decorations from external suppliers should be agreed with your event sales manager. Guests can reach Southbank from Flinders Street Station, with paid public car parks nearby.
