We visited Lilymu in Parramatta on 19/09/26. It was my third time visiting and a lovely return. Situated in the heart of Parramatta Square, Lilymu is a rare representation of Asian Fusion in Sydney’s Western Suburbs. This is what we ate: Entrées - Pacific oyster, nahm jim, betel leaf oil $7ea ✨ - Kingfish ceviche, coconut, cucumber, sweet potato $29 ✨ - Eggplant tempura, yuzu kosho, parmesan $19 - ‘Tom yum’ prawn dumplings, soy and lime dressing (5) $27 ✨ Mains - Banana leaf roasted barramundi, turmeric curry, herbs $47 ✨ - Grilled Berkshire pork tomahawk ‘moo yang’, nahm jim jaew $69 📉 - Seasonal wok vegetables, sesame, chilli crisp $18 ✨ - Steamed jasmine rice $5 ✨= Would recommend 📉= Letdown Overall the dishes were fantastic, and great for the price given this is an asian restaurant serving food with a modern twist. I loved the oysters, which had a spicy tang. The kingfish was fantastic too, with some accompanying crisps - the sauce was slightly too salty, but otherwise we enjoyed it. The eggplant tempura was solid, nothing too special however, I loved that the eggplant inside the cheese and crispy exterior was actually hot. The tom yum dumplings were also delicious and had a lovely tangy taste. We even were given an extra serving of these on the house - I’m not sure if this was because the mains were taking a while or if it was an accidental addition but we enjoyed twice the tom yum dumplings. Moving onto the mains, the barramundi, while not the most visually appealing on presentation tasted great, with the combination of the fish and curry working well. The vegetables were also crispy and well-flavoured with the chilli. Now the only disappointing dish of the night was the Grilled Berkshire pork tomahawk. Whether we were served the dish the way it was intended to be cooked, or we received an outlier poor dish for the night, I am not too sure. However, I will say I’ve never had a pork dish as chewy and tough as the one we had. Our jaw muscles really had to work overtime, and even then it was almost impossible to chew, we would have to spit out our chewed pork - you could get more tender and delicious pork tomahawk elsewhere. That being said, overall we had a fantastic experience. Especially considering the price point typically expected of Asian fusion restaurants, Lilymu was very reasonably priced. Thank you for a wonderful dinner! 💰Total: $58.25pp
