For a cocktail gathering, our Restaurant & Bar caters for up to 35 guests with canapés and drinks service. For seated occasions, the Dining Room welcomes up to 48 guests and suits corporate lunches, dinners, conferences and social celebrations. Exclusive hire is available, including enquiries for the whole venue. Please confirm any combined arrangement with us rather than adding the individual area capacities together.
Our kitchen explores India's regional cuisines through familiar favourites, lesser-known recipes and contemporary interpretations. For functions, we can develop a menu around your preferences, from a shared feasting experience to a tailored dining arrangement. Vegan options are available, and we welcome a conversation about specific dietary requirements before your event. Beverage options can include arrival drinks, packages and our Indian-inspired cocktail selection.
If you would like an activity alongside your celebration, ask us about the cocktail-making masterclass described in our birthday and EOFY event options. We also provide off-site catering, which is a separate service from hiring our Surry Hills restaurant.

The overall experience was really nice. The ambience and songs make it really cosy. The food is delicious and the kulfi is to die for. Loved it. The service was really good and friendly.
We tried their feast for 2 which was exceptionally good. Was mind blown with their curated lost recipes from different parts of India. The new menu also has Aam Puri as a dessert with mango sorbet. Chef's kiss. Was thrilled to see Amla candy as part of the garnish with their chicken kebab. The lamb chops were tender and extremely flavorful. My partner and I enjoyed the music, food and the overall ambience of the restaurant. Definitely will visit it again with all of our family next time. Tanvi and her sister are doing an incredible job by telling the stories of long lost recipes from regional kitchens of India.
One of the best restaurant❤️ The paneer starter was awesome, the soya chaap was delicious & the masala paneer curry was mind-blowing! The interiors are beautiful, decorated with traditional Indian instruments, heritage items, cultural artefacts and lovely pictures. The ambience is classy, elegant & truly premium. The beautiful music playlist adds to the whole experience. A special mention to Chef Tanvi, who personally attended to us and served some absolutely amazing dishes. Her food and hospitality were outstanding! Excellent food, beautiful ambience, great service, awesome music and warm hospitality. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Indian food
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An absolutely amazing experience! I honestly couldn't have asked for a better place to celebrate my birthday. Everything was perfect,from the food and service to the overall atmosphere. Chef Tanvi was amazing and shoutout to the Chef's because every dish was top-notch. You can truly feel the love and effort that goes into everything here. A huge thankyou to the entire team at Foreign Return Indian Restaurant for making everything so memorable. I would highly recommend this place. Definitely a place worth coming back to!
