Built in 1879 and steeped in tradition, the iconic Dunkirk Hotel in Sydney truly has been Pyrmont’s local for almost 150 years. Formerly the Butcher’s Arms Hotel, it was renamed in the 1940s to commemorate The Battle of Dunkirk. The Dunkirk Hotel underwent its first renovation in over 17 years in 2020/2021 - including our cellar, Main Bar, Garden Bar, Pool Room, new TAB Room, as well as a new VIP Lounge now located at the front of the hotel on Harris Street.

Three distinct areas available for functions
The Dunkirk Hotel underwent its first renovation in over 17 years in 2020/2021 - including our cellar, Main Bar, Garden Bar, Pool Room, new TAB Room, as well as a new VIP Lounge now located at the front of the hotel on Harris Street. In July 2021, we launched our brand new boutique hotel accommodation - now two floors and 12 rooms of the beautifully refurbished king, queen, family, double single, and single options with both ensuite and shared bathroom options.
The hotel's bottleshop has had an upgrade and now stocks an extensive range of beer, spirits, wine, sparkling, and champagne. More recently, the hotel's facade had a complete 1930's restoration, reestablishing the Dunkirk as the proud heritage-listed institution it once was.

The Dunkirk Hotel is a beloved Pyrmont institution that genuinely feels like a local — whether you're popping in for a cold beer, hosting a birthday bash, or staying the night. Regulars and first-timers alike rave about the warm, attentive staff (shoutouts to Matt, Marta, and the team are everywhere), great-value food from juicy steaks to chicken wings, and a lively atmosphere with live music and karaoke. As an event venue, it consistently delivers — guests praise seamless planning support and a vibe that keeps people talking long after the night ends.
It was amazing the rooms were so clean the location near the fish markets darling harbour and domino's make it great and the staff are so lovely

Excellent location. I needed a quick last minute place to stay in Prymont. I booked a private bathroom suite. Big room. Comfy bed. Pretty quiet considering their was live music on a Sunday. Its proximity to Harris St and Pyrmont Bridge Rds, on the corner. Clean sheets n linen. Access to roof top. Opposite a fantastic cafe, with excellent food n coffee. Bus stops outside. 9 min walk to light rail. Staff kindly locked my bags away 4 hours so I could sight see after 10am, not drag them aling, before I headed to airport. Id recommend!!! Would def book again. FYI place has bug spray in process as I left at 10am. I had no issues! Earplugs in the drawer in kitchen!
Matt is fantastic - friendly and so helpful. Nothing was too much trouble to help with planning and making our party spectacular. Matt even helped us decorate! Sahara, Zara, Adam, Marta and the rest of the crew were equally fabulous and did everything they could to make the night terrific. Food was great, room was perfect. Thank you!
