Reviews
Bistro Moncur has been a beloved French dining institution in Woollahra for over 30 years, and customers keep coming back — some after a decade away — saying it never disappoints. Regulars and first-timers alike rave about the classic French menu, from the legendary soufflés and chicken liver pâté to perfectly cooked steaks and the celebrated Sunday Roast, which many call the best in Sydney. The attentive, warm service and beautiful ambience consistently earn praise, as does the impressive wine list.
Four of us went for Sunday Roast today. We all agreed this is hands down the BEST Sunday Roast we have ever had anywhere in Sydney. The meats and the vegetables were A+++. If we could give Six Stars we would. Lp
It was 30 years since we last came. We had fond memories. We were not disappointed. Service was especially exceptional, The food superb. The atmosphere jovial and welcoming. ThankYou for making the experience such a special one.
Came here for a Sunday roast and it was the best we have had in Sydney. Highly recommended.
I’m pretty chuffed with this late morning experience. I was strolling the suburb and realised I had a pressing matter to attend to; I walked along the street but nothing looked quite inviting enough for my leisurely activity… until this well-done-up mid-century establishment presented itself to me from across the street. I strutted in with confidence to find it had just opened, and asked the bar tender if there is a place to experience my grace. Without hesitation she sent me on my way. Upon entering, I noticed the construction of the place is solid. Even the partition walls between the two (admittedly not enough) toilet stalls were of solid brick with clean terrazzo tiling and generously detailed stone surfaces. Although I caught a blast of hot air from the stall beside me as I walked into my plot, that rank was thankfully wafting into another direction, and the aforementioned sturdy walls kept me safe. I didn’t mind the size of the stall, and to be honest although the toilet paper is of the stingy sort, the humanistic placement of the paper holder made up for this decision. I appreciate that although I attended during open hours, that the WC was generally clean and tidy DESPITE having no bin… which is why I felt somewhat uneasy needing to make direct contact with that special faucet. Brought the atmosphere down a notch, but overall a generous experience and as a bonus: on my way out, what would you know yet another older gentleman was enquiring whether he may stop by for a peaceful respite with his (assumed) wife! I’ll be sure to stop by for some proper food next time I’m around. Cheers 🥂
