Intimate private gatherings with seasonal cocktails in Chinatown
Our bartenders combine seasonal produce with inventive culinary techniques to create modern cocktails with distinctive flavours and garnishes. The drinks list also includes Australian wines, beers and cider, while a custom mocktail can be made in conversation with your bartender. If some of your guests prefer not to drink alcohol, there are alcohol-free beer, sodas and other non-alcoholic choices.
For a bite alongside your drinks, our menu includes smoky nuts, mixed olives, baked brie and a deli toastie. These smaller dishes suit an evening of catching up without turning the occasion into a formal dinner. Tell us about your group and preferred plans when enquiring about a private function.
Across from Her Majesty's Theatre, we are also a convenient meeting point for pre-theatre drinks and after-work get-togethers. Reservations and walk-ins are available alongside private functions. A portion of cocktail sales supports tree planting through our partnership with the Koala Clancy Foundation.

Wow! Is all I can say about this fabulous, niche discovery. From the minute we walked in we were treated like VIP's! Hugh, host with way more than most, was exceptional. Loved the idea of creating our own pieces of art, handing it to Hugh & being presented with a bespoke cocktail, so carefully concocted by the talented connoisseurs behind the candescent bar! Every cocktail was personally delivered by Hugh and ingredients beautifully explained. I recommend Bar Clara for any function you're planning that offers a night out with a difference. The best customer service!!! Staff are super friendly and patient. the concept is very cool. Super unique experience and would definitely recommend. Nailed the Pictionary drinks. This was on the 22nd of September 2026 at 8pm not sure what the names of the employee and bartender was but they were amazing!
The drinks are exceptional and the service was great. The bartender and manager chatted with me about the drinks and other places I might enjoy while I'm in town. I tried the Figuratively Speaking and the Cereal Killer. Both were versions of an old fashioned, but a bit sweeter. I would recommend both of these drinks to anyone that appreciates an old fashioned. They were absolutely delightful with depth of flavor to balance with the sweetness.
