Balaclava Hotel

Celebrate a milestone birthday, bring colleagues together for end-of-year drinks or plan a private gathering at Balaclava Hotel in St Kilda East. Our Rooftop Bar & Lounge combines an indoor bar and lounge with an all-weather courtyard, giving your guests a setting that works across Melbourne's changing seasons. We also offer arrangements for memorial gatherings and celebrations of life.

Your event can make use of a fully stocked bar, private bathrooms, Bluetooth music connectivity and two wall-mounted televisions. Roof shutters, heating and misting fans help make the courtyard comfortable through cooler and warmer weather. The upstairs event area can be reached by stairs or lift, and exclusive hire can be arranged for up to five hours.

Our function menus focus on canapes, with choices ranging from smaller bites to more substantial dishes. Platters can be added to the relevant catering packages, and vegetarian, vegan and other dietary options are identified on the menus. Please discuss allergies and dietary requirements in advance: our kitchens handle a wide range of ingredients and cannot guarantee that dishes are free from cross-contamination.

Beverages can be organised as a pre-arranged bar tab, a drinks package or individual purchases by your guests. DJs are permitted indoors, with security conditions and fees to discuss for live entertainment and certain event sizes. Our events team can help you plan the catering, drinks and timing for the occasion you have in mind.

The hotel brings a long local history together with a contemporary bar and bistro. Tell us about your event, preferred arrangements and guest numbers so we can discuss the most suitable setup before you book.
